Cafes to visit in BKK (Part 2)

For part 1 of the cafes to visit in BKK, here's the link: http://katechiclove.blogspot.sg/2013/12/cafes-in-bkk-to-visit.html

This was written in 2013 and there were some changes...
1) Roast cafe now serves all day breakfast! Including weekdays :)
2) Roast cafe now serves main courses all day as well! ( P.S. I always go for their dinner menu and esp for their Risotto, so hooray now cos I can have that for lunch as well :P )
3) They have changed their menu (for the better) and they have some special desserts which I don't have enough stomach space to fill them in :(
4) Mr Jones Orphanage Cafe has closed down at Thonglor. If you wish to try their cakes (e.g. M&Ms cake) you can do so at Siam Center.

1) Roast Cafe

Venue: Thonglor Soi 13 (BTS:

The last trip to BKK (which was a few weeks ago), I made a trip to Roast because Boyy Cafe which was in the vicinity was permanently closed D: We spent a good half an hour finding the cafe, yes a cafe which doesn't exist anymore. Thus, Roast was our next best alternative!

I have not been to Roast for my last 2 trips but was so excited this time because they have changed their menu! But as usual, I stick to my Risotto but at the same time, I could taste a bit of my friends' meal. They ordered seafood stew (420bht) and eggs ben(280bht).

We decided to share a dessert because we wanted to have more space for other desserts at the Siam area after that.

2) After You Cafe

Venue: Lots of them! There are 3 convenient outlets that I suggest
i) Thonglor Soi 13, right opposite Roast cafe!
ii) Siam Square
iii) Siam Paragon Basement

Many people and almost any Singaporean that goes bkk will pay a visit to this dessert cafe. And, it is definitely not overrated. I have always loved their Shibuya Honey Toast (try this if you are there for the first time) and their Figgy pudding. But this time round, I got persuaded to try their Ferraro Toast and oh man, I love this too. Reasonably priced for their quality, around $10plus for a toast and can be shared between 2-4 people!

3) Petite Audrey Cafe

Venue: Siam Paragon (BTS: Siam)

My friend introduced to me this cafe 2 years back and I was totally sold! Their Tom Yam Pizza and Thai Tea Crepe Cake is a M-U-S-T TRY!

I forgot what is this!! Some coconut and mango dessert. It's a new dessert and this is awesome as well!!

Could easily had 1 of this pizza on my own but of cos I wouldn't because there are so many things I want to fill my stomach with!

Just look at this. Thai milk tea is already good-ness but now it has transformed into a cake. Not sweet, light- perfect.

4) Kelly Cafe

Venue: Central Plaza, walkable from Union Mall

There's an article which many people have shared on FB about how cheap shopping is at Union Mall. Seriously, I don't really recommend shopping at Union Mall. I will visit the mall whenever I am in bkk, but not for their clothes. For their mani pedi and shoes, just not clothes. Simple reason- They get their clothes at Platinum and Pratunam and obviously there's a higher mark-up at this mall. Clothes here can be seen in Platinum and Siam night market but at a relatively cheaper price.

Go for their shoes and mani!

Digress too much. Back to food. So after your shopping/mani pedi, you can head to central plaza through a linking bridge. You can settle for some desserts here. For example, Kyo Roll En, After You and Kelly cafe. (Many more in the mall you can just explore...)

Milo lovers, don't leave the place not ordering this! I ate this in Kelly Cafe (sister cafe of Audrey Cafe) but you can order it in Audrey cafe at the same time.

This is the high-tea set that we ordered at the Kelly Cafe.

5) Chu Chocolate Bar

Venue: Asok BTS, Exchange Tower level 2 (linkable once you exit the BTS, just opposite terminal 21!) Once you exit the bridge, look to your left.

Ordered their milk and dark chocolate. For chocolate lovers, don't hesitate any further!! Dark chocolate is definitely your choice. Milk chocolate has more of the milk taste rather than chocolate. Dark chocolate drink is not so sweet and perfect for me! They serve brunch as well!

That's all from me- 5 cafes which are currently top on my list heh.

Live, laugh, eat.

Royal China Dimsum

Went for dimsum at Royal China last month because we have ran out of dimsum places to try. I have to say that it is not a wasted trip!

Ordered this Beancurd roll (non-fried) from their special menu and this is so damn good!!

Glutinous rice with chicken. The rice was so chewy and soft. *yumtum*

Didn't order the traditional Chee Chong Fan with charsiew and instead, we went to order the Chee Chong Fan with XO sauce. It was really special!! But I still prefer it with filling inside :P

My favourite dish has to be carrot cake! Must-order dish for my every dimsum meal. Heh.

We wanted to order all the dishes from the Dimsum menu but the waitress was super enthusiastic in recommending us their Roasted Duck, saying that it was their speciality. And being a big fan of it, we decided to order and it was soooo gooooood. I don't normally eat the skin but this was so crispy and tasty!

I forgot what was the bill but I thought their dimsum was quite worth the price?

That's all from me! :D
