Cafes to visit in Taipei

1) Melange Cafe
Stumbled upon this cafe when I was googling what kind of cafes they have around Zhongshan. Melange Cafe was on the top 5 of my google searches so I guess our decision was to head to this cafe right away :)

Before ushering us into cafe, the waitress told us that there will be a "最低消费飲料消費為100元(minimum spending of 1 drink worth NT100 per person)" and you can only spend no more than 1.5hrs in the cafe. I can understand because most cafes in Taipei are generally very crowded. Unlike SG, you don't need to have bloggers blogging about a "hidden" cafe and the cafe suddenly get famous overnight.

I don't need the menu! I was eyeing on their displayed cakes and everything just looks so tasty!!

They were well-known for their strawberry waffles but since I am not a fan of strawberries and we didn't want to waste our calories on waffles, I decided to order their chocolate mousse cake. I knew I had to order this the moment I saw this in their display fridge. I was proven right. The chocolate is so rich and "fresh" that I was asking for more after finishing this whole thing by myself. It is sea salt caramel flavored, chocolate and caramel- all my favourite in one !

Oh, and if your eyes are sharp enough, you will be able to spot a mini macaron! They have a few flavours but they were only left with pistachio and vanilla then and I ordered the pistachio one for NT50. YUMS~

We were quite hungry because it was near dinner time and we decided to order a light snack-sandwich, to go along with the sweet stuff. I am seriously not a sandwich person but this one definitely makes me want to try the other sandwiches as well. It is so frolicking GOOD! There's ham and cheese, vege and the sauce just perfected the whole sandwich.. Oh man, I can eat this for breakfast everyday, no kidding!

And that's not the end of the story. Even their drinks amazed me as well. I was spoilt for choice because there are a wide range of drinks to choose from and everything looks so good in the menu. (I think photos in the menu play a super big part to determine how good your food is :P) I ordered Iced Earl Grey Milk Tea after pondering for 10 mins LOL.

As you can see, you pour in how much of milk you need. I tasted without the milk and the earl grey tea is already so refreshing and good!! Tea lovers will definitely be head over heels with their tea here ;)

All in all, this cafe is a MUST MUST try in Taipei. There are a lot of cafes in Zhongshan but don't hesitate, this is definitely my first choice!

Address: (Alight at Zhongshan MRT)

Zhongshan North Road Section 2
Lane 16 No. 23
Mondays to Fridays: 7.30am till 10.00pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 9.30am till 10.00pm

2)Nola Cafe

It's Christmas Day and we were wondering along the streets at Taipei City Hall and we needed lunch. ATT4Fun mall was where we headed first because they have many many food choices! Jap, chinese, western, brunch, desserts, you name it they have it. We were spoiled for choice but we decided to enter Nola Cafe because it was the most crowded. Food must be good right?

Tried their Jambalaya (紐澳良海鮮飯)! It was superb! Ordered a yogurt drink and everything cost me only less than $18! Come on, a smoothie in SG easily cost up to $12 (w/o GST and service charge). I wana go backkkkk :(

A happy lunch calls for a selfie, #ootd and a photo with the xmas tree on xmas! Found a pity that I did not take an #ootd at the ion xmas tree so this will make up for it :P

Visit their website for more info : Nola Cafe

Address:No.16, Aly. 14, Ln. 150, Sec. 5, Xinyi Rd., Xinyi Dist., Taipei City
Alight at Taipei City hall, take their shuttle bus(7 mins~) to Taipei 101 (bus stop outside the mrt) and walk to Att4fun shopping mall :D

3) Toasteria Cafe

Another cafe that must be on top of your list in Taipei! I was so so lucky to stumble upon this cafe when I was trying to locate Honey Creme! I didn't want to queue in SG so must try in Taipei right ? :P We were also trying to find a place for lunch and I was thinking of settling any food nearby Honey Creme. I walked past this cafe and it was love at first sight. Both its exterior and interior were just wow! I can sit here whole day to do my marking and not complain HAHA.

It was very crowded. We went up to the second floor!

My brunch and coffee! Asked the waitress what were their popular dishes and she immediately recommended me their Panini. It was true because almost every table had a Panini after I took a quick glance.
There's cheese, roasted chicken, ham... (I only remembered this) It was really awesome!! I like it that the crust was crispy and their fries was really good! Coffee also a must try here :P

YUMS.

Had my soft serve craving satisfied at Honey Creme. It is just opposite Toasteria Cafe! See, kill 2 birds in 1 stone :P

Address: No. 2, Lane 248, Section 4, Zhongxiao East Road, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106

Be Merry Collection- The Wallflower Shop

Sharing some of the photos in the latest collection- Be Merry. It's december, the season to be merry and jolly. And the REASON for you to splurge :p

My favourite for this collection would be the Mandy Top! As some of my friends will know, I hardly wear any piece out more than once and if I do, it really shows how much love I have for that piece :P

One of the lazy Sundays when I have decided to park myself at one of the cafes to do some leisure reading. I paired it with the #worntodeath Crochet lace shorts from The Wallflower Shop as well. Love this crochet lace shorts so much that I can really match ANYTHING with it heeee.

On days when I feel girly, I pair it with a high waisted skirt! The top is super stretchy and it definitely will fit most well ;)

Okay enough of the Mandy Top, but let me post a last photo with it! I wanted to dress up for a movie in town and i wore it with a flare pants and surprisingly, the whole monochrome ensemble look so good! I can't believe I wore this 3 times out within 2 weeks heheh. It's such a staple crop top! How to not get it in 2 colours?? The visuals for black can be seen here!

And don't have to guess, my next FAVOURITE piece is Keep Me Comfy Knit Cardigan!! We decided to bring this knit piece in large quantities because it is just SO PERFECT for this rainy season and after I received many praises from my friends for this knit wear.

Too many photos to share for this piece <3 It is so versatile and comfortable I can sleep with it :P

Ok I promise, this is the last photo! I brought it with me during my HK trip and I took so many photos with it!

And the best thing is, it is suitable even during the summer days when you just want to have something cosy to put on at air-conditioned places. The knit is not thick and it will not "stick" onto your skin.

Some of the other pieces in the collection. Don't miss out on the Dressed Down Owl Tee Top because it is so soft and snug, you can wear in on days when you just want something casual but still look good ;)

For readers, here's a special discount code for all of you. Quote "merrymerry" to receive $1 off your total purchase! And did we mention, all our prices are specially discounted in this collection? Everything is UNDER $22! What are you waiting for?

Seoul Part 4

Annyeonghaseyo~ Finally have the time to sit down and blog. Have been super busy for the last month. August is a crazy month because I had to relief a lot of classes and on top of that, I have to prepare for my first lecture and I had to lecture for 2 weeks. I felt so relieved when Sept is here because of the long awaited 1 week of sept hols :P

Sidetrack a bit... For those who asked, yes I went to 2 countries within my 1 week of Sept hols. One trip to BKK and another to HK. I totally enjoyed myself, did not bother to touch any work (except to mark some scripts on the plane). Although I didn't sleep much because it was kind of rush because after my BKK trip, I had to go school for consultation for the whole day and then the next morning I flew to HK right away, I HAD FUN :D The holiday was well spent and much needed.

Okay, I hope I will have the time to blog on my HK trip after my Seoul trip because I went to a lot of new eating places in HK and I can't wait to share the pics :D

Alright, back to Seoul...

1) Thanks Nature Cafe
Decided to head to Thanks Nature Cafe because I heard that there were sheep, REAL sheep in the cafe. How interesting is that? I don't have to even travel to the outskirts to see sheep?

OMGee "faster faster help me take before the sheep runs away."

The interior, just a simple cosy cafe at the corner of Hongdae.

The friendly owner:)

The waffles selection ^^

Ordered a chocolate lava cake and a waffle to share among the 3 of us!

Overall, ambience over food :)

How to go: Hongik University Exit 8.
Turn right after you come out from the exit and walk straight.
Turn right after you see 6.9% plaza and then cross. Walk straight until you see a 7-11, then cross to the right side of the street and then walk straight till you see H&M. Cross the road to your left and walk straight! Try to spot the cafe name on the wall with all the other shop names! The cafe is just down the stairs :)

Afterwhich I decided to hunt down a hair salon after being told by my friend that there are many hair salons around the area. I have long wanted to have curly hair and I am thinking, since I am going to Korea, why not try out their more high tech salon equipments. Korean actresses always have the best hairdo and fashion sense!

Walked around and saw a lot of hair salons and I decided to google the best hair salon and the results apparently showed "Juno" which I have been seeing this chain hair salon almost everywhere I have been to. Without checking the prices, I headed to the salon since there is 1 outlet at Hongdae.

TADAH! Finished product after sitting still at the salon for 2.5 hrs? I just googled "korean curls" and showed her a picture of what I wanted.

Closer look at my curls. I was quite disappointed at first because I wanted more defined curls which can last me for half and if best, a year. The first and previous time I curled my hair was during my sec 4 perm and it lasted me for 1.5 years! My hair stylist told me my curls can last me for 3 months and I was hoping it could be longer :(

After a few days, the curls seemed to be gone and I was super worried lol. That was probably the FIRST time in my life I did not wash my hair for 2 days consecutively because I don't want my curls to soften lol.

I am so sorry about spamming all my selfies :/

My recent #selfies. This is after 3 months and my hair is going straight very soon T.T. I have been very hardworking, applying mousse to my hair every day after every wash :(

For those who asked, I paid $260 for just perming my hair. The service there is VERY good, the moment I step in, they served me tea and then they helped me to keep my bag in the locker. And while I was sitting there for my curls to be done, they served me snacks as well. I felt like a queen! haha! Ok, so these were the value added services. Idk if they marked up their prices because of that or because they were really famous in Seoul.

But I guess my friend was right in saying that it was worth it because curls in Korea were meant to be loose. From what we see in the streets, most of the ladies had loose curls and probably that is the reason why they don't do more defined curls. So, overall, I still think Juno Hair did a good job!:)

If you are not planning to visit a hair salon, Hongdae is a good place for shopping as well ^^ It is a place for youths to hang out.

Chanced upon this super cheap shop selling denim pants and I was so excited because all the clothes I saw were too expensive :( Like 50 plus and above. So I ended up with only a pair of pants at Hongdae heh.

Oh and not forgetting my hello kitty casing (with a mirror) as well ;)

We went back to Myeongdong after shopping for dinner. Ronald wanted to bring us to a dinner place there which he chanced upon during his last year trip to Seoul with his mum. He said it was a simple eatery selling cheap but tasty local food.

What was on the table... This was probably the cheapest meal we had too. It was a very local eatery but the kimchi fried rice, cheese ramen and dumplings were very tasty!

I cannot remember the directions but it is at one of the streets in Myeongdong and this is the shop!

Time for some desserts ^^ My stomach will always have room for sweet things hehe.

Went to O'sulloc Tea House to try their matcha desserts~ The place is huge with 2 floors and as you can see, it is very cosy!

I loveeee loveee love their matcha ice cream and swiss roll! Matcha lovers cannot miss this out!!

Ok that's all I have for part 4!! Last part will be up soon ^^

xoxo
