High tea to go in Bangkok- The Tea House

I have always wanted to go for a high tea buffet in Bangkok but the cafes are enough to overload me with sugar. However, this time round, I had an opportunity to dine at The Tea house, situated in Bangkok at Chang Chui Plane Market!

Fun fact- High tea has no fixed timing in Bangkok because Thai people can have desserts at anytime of the day! I had mine before I even ate my lunch!

The Tea House is just situated near the plane area and its easy to find. It looks really cosy from the outside!

The interior of the cafe doesn't disappoint right! The furniture used and the marble flooring!
<3>

First thing first- SPOT THE SWEET THINGS!

They source their materials from Europe and recipes from France. Are you already tempted ? =P

Sorry that I have not reached the FOOD because I am too amazed by the small little details of the place. Oh man just look at the tea cupssss!! The manager was telling me that all their tea cups are brought back from overseas trips made by the boss. Can I have all these in my future house toooooo

Ok I should stop drifting~~ THIS is the high tea menu! Its definitely more than enough for two people!

The manager was very kind to serve me their signature award winning dessert plate which is called the Rainy Day. I heard that the chef won some award in one of the competitions held in Korea!
Its so intricate. Spot the cloud and the rain droplet! The rain droplet is actually macademia nut coated with honey!! Its a fruit jelly inside which SJ loves it!

Was served drinks thereafter. The cold drink is Mango Passion Soda and the pot of tea they selected for me was fruity and lemon green tea. FYI, all their tea is imported from France! They have a HUGE selection and you are entitled to 2 pots of tea from the menu. The soda is especially refreshing in the hot weather!

And the tea set is served! The lower tier- scones and croissants. I LOVE the caramel croissants! Doesn't lose out to Tiong Bahru Bakery ones heh. Middle tier- a variety of cakes. There's tiramisu, strawberry shortcake, lemon and chocolate cake. My favourite is the lemon one!! Its not too sour and I like that their cakes are not too sweet. Have tasted a lot of cakes in life and I dare to say they put in a lot of effort in their pastries and not your-next-door cakes HAHA.

Upper tier- There were 2-3 more macarons with another slice of chocolate cake! I was more focused on the note hehe.

Overall, I really like the atmosphere of the place. Just me and my partner sipping tea and eating sweet things, having a nice chat in the cosy tea house. A quiet and fruitful afternoon spent :D We were very full after that even though we did not have our lunch.

The staff were very attentive and would help us to refill our teas.

Highly recommend their high tea at The Tea House at a pocket friendly price tag !

They have 2 outlets in Bangkok. One of them is in Thong Lor now but I heard they are shifting pretty soon to a bigger place!

Bernard Cassiere Chocolate Anti-Stress Facial @ J Studios!

Was intrigued when I saw a video at J Studios showing chocolate spreading on the face and I was like- is that really chocolate?! And minutes later, I was told that I have the opportunity to try this Bernard Cassiere Chocolate Anti-Stress Facial. I was already dreaming about chocolate on my face and I was so excited for their launch!

Background about Bernard Cassiere Chocolate Anti-Stress Facial.

Targeted skin types- Stressed Skin, General loss of skin brightness, dehydrated and dry skin, Tired skin, Environmentally damaged skin (by UV and pollution)

Ingredients are mostly natural! The products they use for the entire process is made up of cocoa extract, butter cocoa extract and fair trade chocolate

WHEEE can you see, it's all chocolate!

Treatment process

1. Cocoa Beans Peeling ( Exfoliates, smoothens, Stimulates cell renewal)It contains granulated cocoa beans that help to exfoliate without being too harsh on the skin. Natural cocoa fragrance! (Pssssstt it really smells good too!)

The chocolate smell is so appetizing alreadyyyyyy. The cocoa beans were not too harsh on the skin too.

2. Cocoa Butter (Anti-Stress, Nourishes, Repairs)

When I went for their pre-launch event, they gave us each a drop of the butter and I was already impressed by how nourishing it was on the skin. Together with the massage, it helps to firm and lift up my skin!

3. Chocolate Fondue Mask (Antioxidant, Anti-radical, accelerates cell renewal)It comprises of melted chocolate containing 64% cocoa content.

Time for a chocolate treat!! OMG totally looking forward to this step! :D It was really melted chocolate and it was warm when it was applied to my face. I am always lazy when it comes to putting mask. But if I can put chocolate fondue on my face everyday, I will gladly sacrifice 15-20 mins of my time everyday to do this. It just don't feel like a pain! I was "busy" licking the chocolate off my lips while waiting and the beautician was like "Wa, I don't even have anything to wipe off your lips!" OOPPS.

Photos will do the talking now. I hope it doesn't make you hungry :P

Last step: Cocoa Nectar and Nutriprotective Cream

The nectar (serum) and cream help to hydrate my dry skin, repair and aids in cell renewal of the skin. The nutriprotective cream is also specially formulated to protect our skin from daily stresses such as urban pollution, sleeping disorders. The ingredients consist of shea and cocoa butter which helps to enhance our skin's radiance (especially effective for people with dull skin like me) and to have a more youthful appearance!

After results!

Honestly, I felt that my skin was more firmed up and there's a natural glow to it. I have very dull skin and hence, I will feel very satisfied if I see improvements on that!

Overall, I had an amazing first chocolate facial experience at JStudios and their service never disappoints!

J studios- Signature Oxygen Deep Cleansing Facial

I had the opportunity to try J Studios's signature oxygen deep cleansing facial 2 weeks back. I was excited to give it a try because I heard that it is a non-painful process! I have gone to a few beauty salons and I really dread going every single time because of the pain that I have to bear, especially removing my black heads. And almost every time, I come out with a swollen red face that makes me want to head home immediately!

Alright, let me stop the ranting and let the photos do the talking!!

I was enjoying the tea while I took a closer look at the surroundings. The place is so comfortable, with lots of pretty deco around, and more importantly- it's super clean. I think cleanliness cannot be compromised for a beauty salon! I am super impressed with their toilets too :P

More photos of the place! They have level 1 and 2 and their level 1 is very spacious with v comfy sofa chairs !

I think you all won't disagree with me right? The interior is so pleasant that I can sit there the whole day to read a book lol.

I was brought up to level 2 where all their rooms for facial was located at.

They have a total of 4 rooms and its interior style is a neo classical french concept.

Featuring the lavender and rose room here..

Amazed by their very spacious and well designed rooms! It definitely makes me feel so pampered having to do my facial here lol. Usually is quite cramp the ones I've been to..

Got changed and definitely not missing out a selfie when the lighting is so chio!

Treatment and process

First of all before I start the treatment, they helped me to cleanse and remove my makeup. This was followed by a light manual extraction for my blackheads! My beautician said this extraction need not be so thorough because the oxygen deep cleansing later will do it for me painlessly haha.

I was given a choice of lavender/rose... many much more kind of oil to choose from and I chose the rose's one!

Second step- Oxygen deep cleansing to remove all impurities. It's super shiok because the pressure was quite strong and it feels like all the dirty things on my face are being "sucked in" haha!

Third step- Applying serum using the cold ultrasonic machine for hydrating and increases the absorption of the nutrients from the mask and moisturizer later on..

Fourth step- Beautician helping me to put my rose mask. Effects are for hydrating and anti-ageing benefits

And the final step after the mask is to put on the hydrating toner, hydrating and anti-aging rose moisturizer and sunblock.

And DONE WITH IT!

Before (left) and after (right). Can you spot the difference(s)?? If you were to look closely at my forehead, its so much brighter and whiter now! Also, the blemishes from my cheeks are smoother now!

My skin really felt so refreshed and cleansed after! I was so happy with the results because I could see the difference it had!

Took another selfie 2 days later and I felt that the "brightening" and "whitening" effects were still there :P
This is w/o makeup!

Just some background about my skin... I go to work mostly with make up on everyday and its at least a good 12 hours of make up on before I wash off when I am home. I am seated very near to the aircon and that is why my skin is always very dry and dull. I go under the sun very often too! But, you can see that after this deep cleansing facial, it adds an instant glow to my skin and I really am amazed by the effects!

My experience at J Studio did not disappoint because the beautician is really very professional and she patiently explained to me the step by step process and the rationale behind every treatment. I was appreciative of that because sometimes you just want to know what they are doing to your faces although you may not really understand haha. To give that sense of security yknow..

Here's a photo with my beautician!

Some background about Oxygen Facial

The oxygen facial delivers oxygen, moisturizer, vitamins, and antioxidants, replenishing nutrients to the skin through the use of an airbrush. The pressure and serum help to deep cleanse and plump the skin, minimizing the apperance of wrinkles and fine lines, while increasing blood circulation to boosting collagen production and skin whitening. This will leave your skin clean, smooth and radiant! :D

I am very pleased with the treatment done at J Studio. If you are keen, they have 2 locations, located at

Cafes to visit in BKK (Part 2)

For part 1 of the cafes to visit in BKK, here's the link: http://katechiclove.blogspot.sg/2013/12/cafes-in-bkk-to-visit.html

This was written in 2013 and there were some changes...
1) Roast cafe now serves all day breakfast! Including weekdays :)
2) Roast cafe now serves main courses all day as well! ( P.S. I always go for their dinner menu and esp for their Risotto, so hooray now cos I can have that for lunch as well :P )
3) They have changed their menu (for the better) and they have some special desserts which I don't have enough stomach space to fill them in :(
4) Mr Jones Orphanage Cafe has closed down at Thonglor. If you wish to try their cakes (e.g. M&Ms cake) you can do so at Siam Center.

1) Roast Cafe

Venue: Thonglor Soi 13 (BTS:

The last trip to BKK (which was a few weeks ago), I made a trip to Roast because Boyy Cafe which was in the vicinity was permanently closed D: We spent a good half an hour finding the cafe, yes a cafe which doesn't exist anymore. Thus, Roast was our next best alternative!

I have not been to Roast for my last 2 trips but was so excited this time because they have changed their menu! But as usual, I stick to my Risotto but at the same time, I could taste a bit of my friends' meal. They ordered seafood stew (420bht) and eggs ben(280bht).

We decided to share a dessert because we wanted to have more space for other desserts at the Siam area after that.

2) After You Cafe

Venue: Lots of them! There are 3 convenient outlets that I suggest
i) Thonglor Soi 13, right opposite Roast cafe!
ii) Siam Square
iii) Siam Paragon Basement

Many people and almost any Singaporean that goes bkk will pay a visit to this dessert cafe. And, it is definitely not overrated. I have always loved their Shibuya Honey Toast (try this if you are there for the first time) and their Figgy pudding. But this time round, I got persuaded to try their Ferraro Toast and oh man, I love this too. Reasonably priced for their quality, around $10plus for a toast and can be shared between 2-4 people!

3) Petite Audrey Cafe

Venue: Siam Paragon (BTS: Siam)

My friend introduced to me this cafe 2 years back and I was totally sold! Their Tom Yam Pizza and Thai Tea Crepe Cake is a M-U-S-T TRY!

I forgot what is this!! Some coconut and mango dessert. It's a new dessert and this is awesome as well!!

Could easily had 1 of this pizza on my own but of cos I wouldn't because there are so many things I want to fill my stomach with!

Just look at this. Thai milk tea is already good-ness but now it has transformed into a cake. Not sweet, light- perfect.

4) Kelly Cafe

Venue: Central Plaza, walkable from Union Mall

There's an article which many people have shared on FB about how cheap shopping is at Union Mall. Seriously, I don't really recommend shopping at Union Mall. I will visit the mall whenever I am in bkk, but not for their clothes. For their mani pedi and shoes, just not clothes. Simple reason- They get their clothes at Platinum and Pratunam and obviously there's a higher mark-up at this mall. Clothes here can be seen in Platinum and Siam night market but at a relatively cheaper price.

Go for their shoes and mani!

Digress too much. Back to food. So after your shopping/mani pedi, you can head to central plaza through a linking bridge. You can settle for some desserts here. For example, Kyo Roll En, After You and Kelly cafe. (Many more in the mall you can just explore...)

Milo lovers, don't leave the place not ordering this! I ate this in Kelly Cafe (sister cafe of Audrey Cafe) but you can order it in Audrey cafe at the same time.

This is the high-tea set that we ordered at the Kelly Cafe.

5) Chu Chocolate Bar

Venue: Asok BTS, Exchange Tower level 2 (linkable once you exit the BTS, just opposite terminal 21!) Once you exit the bridge, look to your left.

Ordered their milk and dark chocolate. For chocolate lovers, don't hesitate any further!! Dark chocolate is definitely your choice. Milk chocolate has more of the milk taste rather than chocolate. Dark chocolate drink is not so sweet and perfect for me! They serve brunch as well!

That's all from me- 5 cafes which are currently top on my list heh.

Live, laugh, eat.
