Shopping in Taipei

Favorite time for all girls; Shopping!

I am going to share some of the shopping heavens in Taipei and make you broke haha.

1) Taipei 五分埔 (Wufenpu)
MRT: HouShanPi

Yes! I believe almost everyone has heard of this shopping heaven where they sell wholesale clothes, accessories, bags, shoes... at v cheap prices! Almost every stall has a NT100 (SGD$4-5) rack that sells old designs/apparels that have not-so-obvious "flaws" (if you don't mind) They sell summer clothes during the period of March-Oct and they have summer sales during Oct as they bring in their winter clothing. During winter, there is nothing much to buy except for accessories, long pants/jeans and cardigans :)

Usually you can bargain a bit with them because they will charge NT50-90 more. For example, a top with a wholesale price of NT300 will be quoted to you at say NT380.

These pictures generally show the shops in Wufenpu; there are so many alleys and hidden corners that you would probably lose your way. Most of the time, I take 4 hours to finish my shopping in WufenPu....might even be longer :P

2) Taipei 101 & ATT 4 FUN

MRT: Taipei City Hall

Taipei 101 is definitely not one of the best places to shop at but its iconic status in Taiwan makes it an almost mandatory destination. So,I'll share about my shopping experience there anyway!

Most of the shops in 101 are luxury and designer boutiques (Gucci, Prada, Tiffany & Co. etc.) and there is also a ZARA outlet. Honestly, there wasn't anything new to see here because whatever brands you can find here can already be found in Singapore. However, from my experience, luxury products are cheaper by SGD20-80 than in Singapore but the amount varies across different brands.

I've bought stuff from Tiffany and Co there and the prices here are slightly cheaper:)

If you're travelling on a slightly tight budget, you would probably be restricted to mostly window shopping :P Or head straight to their foodcourt at the basement for a variety of nice food after tiring your legs out heh.

You could of course head up to The Observatory on the 89th floor for NTD400 provided if the weather is good. (I did not go up because I was told my the surprisingly honest ticketing lady that visibility was very poor on that day).

After 101, you can cross the road to this shopping complex ATT 4 FUN. They have nice cafes where you can have your tea break ;)

Next few mentioned are night markets which offer wide selection of clothes/shoes/accessories. To me, different night markets have their own type of stuff and prices might differ, esp if the night market is catered for students, prices would be more wallet-friendly.

3) 士林夜市
MRT: Jian Tan

Prices quoted are slightly more expensive because they mostly cater for tourists. There's a birkenstock outlet too at the end of the street.(I've heard that the prices here are definitely more worth than SG ones!) There's also a few shops selling cheap nail stickers and nail accessories~ Easy to spot :P

4) 师大夜师
MRT: Tai power

Clothes, shoes etc are considerably cheaper here because they cater to students. Nice fashion boutiques with affordable prices! Leggings are super cheap. Plus shoesssss~~

5) 西門盯
MRT: Ximending

Very crowded. A lot of shophouses for all sorts of stuff you are looking for. But, prices there are more inflated, need to bargain! There's a uniglo and havaianas outlet there. Slippers are cheaper in tw than sg:) I think my previous 4 pairs are all bought here~

These 3 night markets offer more shopping selections compared to the rest in Taipei. Hopefully you will find it useful :D

There are also shopping malls like Sogo, Hankyu, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, Q square but they are just like Singapore OG, BHG, Metro, Isetan... If you don't mind going to avoid the heat outdoors...

Thats all for all the cheap shopping places in Taipei! If you are looking for any designer brands specifically, you can try searching the outlet in shopping malls!

Have fun shopping in Taipei xx
